Coffee & Cradle is a daily baby-care tips app for parents and caregivers. We designed it so that privacy is structural, not just a promise: the app has no accounts, and we never ask for — or store — your name, email address, phone number, or your baby's name or date of birth.
What we collect
- An anonymous identifier. When you first open the app, it creates a random anonymous ID (via Firebase anonymous authentication). This is the only identity we hold. It is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity.
- A baby profile you choose to provide. Your baby's age in weeks (never a birth date), and optionally gender, temperament, and simple yes/no context such as first-time parent, whether your baby has an illness or disability, and whether there are siblings. This exists solely to pick relevant tips.
- Coarse location — optional. If you grant location access, we round your coordinates to roughly an 11 km grid before storing them. That is enough to know the local weather (so a hot-day tip surfaces on a hot day) and deliberately not enough to locate a household. If you never grant location, everything else still works.
- Your time zone and notification preferences, including a push notification token if you enable notifications.
- In-app activity. Searches you submit, and which tips you view, save, like, or spend time on. We use this to personalize which tips you see. The app does not log keystrokes — only deliberate actions.
- Usage analytics. We use Mixpanel to record basic usage events (such as app opens and session information, with device model and OS version) so we can understand whether the app is working. These events are tied to a random identifier, not to your identity.
What we never collect
No name, no email, no phone number, no date of birth, no contacts, no photos, no precise location, no advertising identifiers. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to create.
How we use it
Only to run the product: choosing the six tips you see each day, sending the notifications you asked for, making search work, and improving the tip library. We do not sell or rent your data, we do not share it with data brokers, and there are no third-party ads.
Services that process data for us
- Google — Firebase (anonymous sign-in and push notifications) and Google Cloud (application hosting).
- Neon — database hosting.
- Mixpanel — usage analytics, as described above.
- Open-Meteo — weather lookups. It receives only rounded coordinates, with no identifier attached.
- Anthropic and OpenAI — when you search, your query text may be processed by these AI providers to understand it or to generate a tip when nothing in our library matches. Query text is sent without your identifier or profile attached, and is not used by these providers to train their models.
About your baby's information
The app is intended for use by adults — parents and caregivers — not by children. The small amount of information you provide about your baby (an age in weeks and optional context) is not personally identifiable and is used only to select appropriate tips.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while you use the app. Because we hold no contact details, your data is tied only to your anonymous ID; if you delete the app, that ID is abandoned and nothing we hold can be connected back to you. To have your data erased from our servers, email us and we will work with you to locate and delete it.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS), and access to our systems is restricted.
Not medical advice
Coffee & Cradle provides general informational and educational content only. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for the guidance of your pediatrician or another qualified health professional.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Questions or deletion requests: nagasrikanthkallakuri@gmail.com.
